Anurag Kashyap has joined hands with debutant director Sameer Sharma for Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana toplining Kunal Kapoor and Huma Qureshi. UTV Motion Pictures will produce it. The film is a madcap comedy revolving around a Punjabi joint family. The film also marks UTV and Kashyap’s reunion. “We’ve had a great association with Anurag on two cult movies, Dev D and Udaan. We’re sure Luv Shuv… will be another addition to the list,” says Siddharth Roy Kapur of UTV Motion Pictures.
The music is by Anurag’s pet, Amit Trivedi. After Udaan last year, Kashyap worked with Viacom 18 on his last two productions, Shaitan and Michael. He says, “Luv Shuv… is love story and is anything but a conventional movie. That’s why I chose to associate with it.”
The film is being shot in Punjab.
Sameer Sharma’s directorial debut, Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, that flagged off in Ludhiana is being touted as India’s first ‘food’ movie. Kunal Kapoor, who plays the lead opposite Huma Qureshi, points out that it’s an appropriate subject for a country that is obsessed with eating and feeding.
“When you visit a friend, the first thing you’re asked is what you would like to eat. When you return home, the first thing your mother wants to know is if you’ve eaten. A lot of family bonding happens over the dinner table,” reasons the actor. “And being Punjabis, it’s in Sameer and my genes to be die-hard foodies.”
