TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA - EVENTS

Bollywood's just married duo Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza are happy with the success of their film Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya. They believe the credit goes to the sheer hard work of the team behind the film and not to the buzz their recent marriage created.

Riteish asserts that the excitement around their marriage did not lead to the film's success."We have done two films together - Tujhe Meri Kasam and Masti. Masti was a commercial success and Tujhe Meri Kasam initially did not do well, but if you ask a trade analyst, you will find that since there was no DVD and satellite rights for the film, it is still being shown in many towns.

So, our marriage has no connection to the success of the film (Tere Naal...)," said Riteish."I would love to give the credit to the makers of the film, the director of the film and the film itself for being nice and hence appreciated," he added.

The two tied the knot Feb 3, ahead of the film's release Feb 24.Tere Naal... set the cash registers at the box office ringing, and received a thumbs-up from the critics as well."This film is special because maybe both of us have grown as actors," Riteish said.

He added: "When we meet people, they say that 'you two look very good on screen'. We always feared, what if people do not like us together on screen, because you never know how people will receive your chemistry and it depends on the film as well how the chemistry comes out."And as Genelia says, that chemistry is written on paper and you never know how it's received by critics.

t's just been 11 days since Riteish and Genelia have got married, but on their first Valentine's Day, work remains their biggest love. The couple looked very much in love as they promoted their upcoming film Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya at IIPM Saket.

Much like his on screen persona, Riteish Deshmukh likes to make people laugh in real life too. He just can't stop making his newly wed wife Genelia smile at his jokes. And with the crowd, he's as good as a stand-up comedian. So when we asked Riteish what he's gifting Genelia on their first Valentine's Day post marriage, he went and hugged her. So sweet, isn't it! Instead of the standard response - 'no comments', he atleast did something interesting to evade a personal query.

On being asked what the couple like about each other, Riteish says: "What I like about Genelia is that she values relationships. Be it with me, with her brother, her sister, or even with dogs."

Genelia on the other hand likes the fact that Riteish respects everyone: "He respects everybody, and that's what I like about him the most."

Full marks on their off-screen equation. But what about their on-screen chemistry? Do they look good together?
Genelia, who was letting Ritiesh do all the talking, answered this one, "I personally feel chemistry is not between the two actors. It's between the actor and the director or producer for that matter. It depends on a filmmaker how he portrays the on screen romance in a movie."

Their comfort level reflects years of courtship. And the couple admits they have grown together as individuals as well as actors.
"We started our career together with Tujhe Meri Kasam. And it was interesting to be working together again after eight-years, after having done 20-25 films each. We got to know how we have grown as actors. And I must say Genelia is a great actor. She is definitely better than me," says Riteish.

Is there any similarity between the real and reel Genelia? "Well, I kidnap him in the movie, I won't do that in real life," Genelia giggles.

"The only similarity the character shares with Genelia is her energy level. Genelia is full of energy in real life," says Riteish.

The storyline of the film, however, is a bit too similar with their real life. By their own admission, Riteish and Genelia became friends first, then lovers and now they are married. In the movie, too, the couple do not fall in love instantly."The characters in Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya do not fall in love immediately. It was an evolutionary process," says Riteish.

Genelia is loving her married life and recommends marriage to everyone. "As far as adjustments are concerned, you have to do that in every family. But Riteish's family is my family. Life hasn't changed after marriage, but priorities have changed. I will keep doing movies."When asked how they are planning to spend V-Day, this is what Riteish had to say: "We got to spend Valentine's Day together promoting a film that we both love. And the film is about love."

V-Day tips:
Genelia: "Be yourself, that's most important. Be confident and be clear in your approach."
Riteish: "You should respect a woman."

However, we are happy that the film has done well."Riteish is now busy promoting Housefull 2, while Genelia is shooting for Rock the Shaadi and It's My Life.
