Akshay kumar is in the lead (title) role of Khiladi 786 (Bahattar). Himesh Reshammiya is playing the role of a Gujrati Guy Mansukh in this movie, and Paresh Rawal is playing the role of Mansukh's father Champaklal.
Earlier, Ileana D'Cruz was reported to have signed the film. Later, this was proven false after actress Nargis Fakhri was signed for the film.Although, soon after the signing, Fakhri was dropped from the project as Amitabh Bachchan was earlier to be playing her older brother in the film, but due to Bachchan being replaced by Mithun Chakraborty, the producers of the film felt she wouldn't fit the role of Chakraborty's sister.
It was later reported that either actressIleana D'Cruz would rejoin the project, or Diana Penty will be replacing Fakhri in the project.In June 2012, Asinwas signed to play the leading lady of the film, putting all rumours to a stop.Akshay Kumar has tied up with Himesh Reshammiya to produce a comedy film titled Khiladi 786-Made In Punjab. The film will have Akshay in the lead role and Himesh will play a Gujrati guy.The film is Himesh Reshammiya’s brainchild, who will also compose its music.

'Khiladi 786' is an upcoming action comedy film directed by Ashish R Mohan starring Ileana D'Cruz, Paresh Rawal and Himesh Reshammiya. "It has been 12 years that I haven't done that kind ('Khiladi') of a film. The role that I got, suits me...I think it was written for me...I am happy to be doing action films again," the actor said. The actor earned the nickname of 'Khiladi' for his action-romantic-comedy films like 'Khiladi' (1992), 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari' (1993), 'Sabse Bada Khiladi' (1995), 'Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi' (1996), 'Mr and Mrs Khiladi' (1997), 'International Khiladi' (1999), 'Khiladi 420' (2000).
