Bad man Ranjeet plays Akshay Kumar’s father in Housefull 2 — The Dirty Dozen and the star says that it was quite a thrill taking off on the veteran actor whose movies he had grown up watching.

“There are no murders and molestations since this is a family film. We’re going to kill you with laughter alone,” promises Akshay, who has imitated the yesteryear’s villain’s menacing drawl and bold stare. “He had a typical way of opening his mouth and saying, ‘Ayee!’ Would you believe he actually taught me how to get his mannerisms right and also coached me through some of his popular dialogue knowing that we were doing it for laughs?” adds the actor.

The film releases on April 5, a day after the Season 5 of the Indian Premier League flags off. And Akshay isn’t worried about his film clashing with the cricket extravaganza. 
“If Sajid (producer Sajid Nadiadwala) and Eros International who have invested money in it are ready for the risk, along with their distributors and exhibitors, why should I worry? They know best,” he reasons, recalling how director Sajid Khan, on the first day of the shoot, presented every member of the cast with a letter saying, ‘Welcome to the biggest blockbuster of your life’.

“Sajid is clear that he’s not making a film to win the Oscars, but one that makes the audience fall off their chairs laughing. Unfortunately, comedy is yet to get its due credit in Hindi cinema,” Akshay feels.

The action hero says he enjoys doing laugh riots, but points out that currently he’s also juggling an action-romance (Rowdy Rathore), a fantasy adventure (Joker) and a real-to-reel bank heist (Special Chabbis). Also waiting in the wings are the Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai sequel, Hera Pheri 4 and Khiladi 786, along with his own home production, Oh My God, for which only Paresh Rawal has been confirmed so far.

How difficult is it being the busiest actor in Bollywood? “Well, it’s all meticulously planned. I wrap up the first three, and then the next three go on the floors. It’s hectic but I’m an actor, there’s not much else I can do.”

Actor Asin Thottumkal, who is gearing up for her first multi-starrer Housefull 2, describes director Sajid Khan as funny and says he forgets to say ‘cut’ once the shot is done.

“Sajid as a director is funny. He gets so involved in the scenes that he forgets to say cut. We’d be doing Comedy scene and he’d start laughing in the middle of the scene, that too, on the mic and we all would get distracted,” said Asin.

Housefull 2 is the actor’s fourth Hindi film after blockbuster hit Ghajini, London Dreams and Ready.

The actor, who has worked in the southern film industry as well, says she has learnt to be more careful about the way she presents herself and takes great care while selecting clothes for public appearances.

“I have realised that it is very important the way you carry yourself specially when the national media is scrutinising you so much.

It’s a national platform — everything is talked about, pointed out, so you need to live up to that expectation,” said the 26-year-old.

Asin adds that her choice of clothes is based on how comfortable she would be wearing those. “(Earlier) I used to wear whatever my stylist would ask me to wear. But now, I think whether I am comfortable sporting those clothes and if they will suit me or not,” she said.
