After making over Rs 21.5 crore at domestic box-office, Imran-Kareena starrer Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu has garnered impressive numbers in overseas market also.

In UK box office, the film has collected Rs 1.88 crore. "In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 2,42,177 [Rs. 1.88 crores] on 53 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 4,569. Mon: £ 29,531, Tue: £ 67,819,".

The film has fared even better in US box-office. "In its opening weekend, the film has collected $ 6,37,100 [Rs. 3.15 crores] on 111 screens, with the per screen average working out to $ 5,740,".

Kareena-Imran's coming-of-age romcom Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu has collected approx Rs 21.25 cr nett in its opening weekend at Indian box office, reports the trade analyst.
"Picked up after a slow start on Friday and showed ample growth on Saturday and Sunday. Is extra-ordinary at urban centres, while circuits dominated by single screens remained lackluster.

"Has performed the best at plexes of Mumbai, Delhi, Punjab, Kolkata and Mysore, which have contributed to a big chunk of the business, but in circuits like C.P., C.I. and Rajasthan, the growth in business remained minimal,".

"Compared to the start, the pick up on Saturday and Sunday is quite good. The target audience of the film (the multiplex frequenting audience) seems to have taken to the film, although from a day later,".

Imran Khan’s Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (EMAET) has opened to rave reviews and good box-office collections, but what made the weekend more special for him was a phone call from his mamu Aamir Khan on Saturday. Although Aamir has been on a whirlwind tour of India and has not seen the film yet, he called up his nephew and spoke at length about the feedback he has been receiving for his performance in EMAET.

“Imran, after hanging up, got very emotional and burst into tears. Probably for the first time, Aamir has been so appreciative of Imran. He is planning to see the film once he is back,” says an insider from Imran’s team.In fact, Aamir even posted on his Facebook page: “Just spoke to Kiran (Rao, wife) on the phone. She really liked EMAET and said that this is Imran’s best performance till date. That’s great news, most thrilled.”

Although Imran’s family members have always appreciated his work, they always felt that since he is growing as an actor, he could do better. “But this time, they have all seen the film and loved his performance,” says the insider.

Aamir, on his part, apparently spoke to Imran about how everyone has been praising him. “In fact, Aamir has got messages saying Imran has come of age with this performance. He’s very happy with the appreciative words he has been receiving on Imran’s behalf ” says the insider.

When contacted, Imran says with a smile, “Yes, it has been a very emotional weekend. Besides the critical acclaim, I am happy that everyone is loving EMAET. The numbers at the box office have been very good. But for me, the most important feedback has been Aamir’s, despite him not having seen the film yet.”

Interestingly, with EMAET, Imran also completes a hat trick of hit films after last year’s Delhi Belly and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.
