Kunal Khemu, who will be seen playing the lead role in Mahesh Bhatt's Blood Money, says his character in the film is simple and anyone can relate to it.
The 28-year-old actor said that his character has the same dreams like every other man.
Directed by debut director Vishal Mahadkar, the film will hit screens on March 30.
"Anyone who wants to make his life better would be able to relate to the emotions of this guy. There are many dreams of the lead character that any normal middle class person would be able to relate to," Kunal said.
The thriller revolves around a young man who finishes his MBA and earns an overseas job for himself. As soon as the character steps into a foreign land, he is troubled by unforeseen challenges.
"We have tried to make sure that the protagonist remains a normal guy from start till the end of the story whereas in other films we see a character starts off as a simpleton and becomes a hero in the end," Kunal added.
In the film, Kunal will be seen sharing the screen space with actress Amrita Puri of Aisha fame.
"I really enjoyed working with Amrita. She is quite talented and though she comes from a very different background instead of being from a so-called 'filmy' family, she is following her passion as an actress," he said.
Puri, who is busy promoting her next flick, Blood Money, co-starring Kunal Khemu, says that her character is inspired by actor Emraan Hashmi’s wife Parveen. “Our director Vishal is Emraan’s friend and introduced me to Parveen. I met her and saw what she is like. She is a very sweet person. I play a nursery school teacher in the film just like Parveen in real life,” she says.
Puri says that the film’s producer Mahesh Bhatt wanted to title the film Kalyug 2, but the team suggested otherwise. “Everyone told him that the concept of a blood diamond hasn’t been explored in cinema here, so if the concept is new, why give a previous title that people will have pre-conceived notions about?” she says.

Actor Kunal Khemu, who has pulled off serious as well as comedy roles, will now be seen in a hardcore action movie. After working with Kunal in his directorial debut Blood Money, Vishal Mahadkar has roped in the actor for his next untitled film. "I am doing a hardcore action thriller with Kunal Khemu. I always wanted to do an action film. Something I really enjoy watching, this is completely my space. Somewhere it is Kunal's space as well I think we are going to make a kick ass film as a team," Mahadkar told IANS.
Releasing March 30, Blood Money has been produced by Vishesh Films and Mahadkar's next ios also coming from the same banner.
"No discussion on the title as of now. The script is being written and when the script is ready we can decide whether to give it a title that has a franchise or not. But, as off now it's not a sequel. I like to cast only when my script is written. It's too early to talk about other characters," said Mahadkar.
The director promises to show some street brawls in the film.
